Aerial Reference Studies
Fall 2017 | Public Artwork

About
The Aerial Reference Studies is a temporary sculpture created for the Evanston Edition of the 3rd Terrain Biennial of Public Art in 2017. This public artwork reconfigures reference markers used in aerial cartography, and is connected to Visible From Space (2009-present) a body of work with outcomes that include installations, performances, videos, outdoor projections, prints, handmade paper, essays, and site-specific events. Visible from Space erupts from a thought experiment about creating a drawing on Earth so large it could be seen from the Moon. Special thanks to Mat Rappaport, Anne Stevens, Sabina Ott, Elaine Frangedakis, Patrick McFadden, and BJ Allen in making this work possible.
